Changing the Narrative about Black and Indian Relationships

In 2017, a friend forwarded me an AJ plus article about racism against Africans in India. This wasn’t a one-off incident, rather one of many stories exposing India’s dark-skinned complex.

As a father of two children in a Black x Indian marriage, this news story forced me to reflect on how trailblazing our “Blindian” unions are, and why today, they’re more important than ever.

Later that year, we founded the #BlindianProject to change the negative narratives surrounding our relationships.

The #BlindianProject is a crowdsourced gallery, sharing the stories of Black x Indian couples from around the world. 2020 will be a special year for our project. For more information, or to get involved — email us at kampind@gmail.com.
